Policies and Procedures
Everything you need to know for a smooth season at Studio531.
Important Info for Dancers & Families
To help every class run smoothly and safely, we’ve outlined our studio policies and procedures. Here you’ll find important details about attendance, dress code, communication, and more—everything you need for a successful season at Studio 531.
Tuition is calculated based on the entire year and broken up into four quarterly payments. Quarterly tuition remains the same for all four quarters regardless of whether it is a “long” quarter (fourth quarter) or “short” quarter (second quarter). Quarter start dates are available on the calendar and in the registration packet. Tuition is due the first week of each quarter.
Tuition that is not paid by the Thursday of the first week of each quarter will be subject to a $15 late fee. Tuition that is not paid by the end of the first month of the quarter will be subject to an additional $25 late fee. Tuition is due regardless of the number of classes attended; no refunds will be given for classes missed because of illness, vacation, or cancellations caused by inclement weather.
All fees paid are non-refundable under any circumstance, including but not limited to withdrawal, dismissal, or event cancellations not initiated by Studio 531 Dance.
Class rates depend on a minimum enrollment number. If enrollment falls below this minimum, we reserve the right to cancel the class, reduce its duration, or combine it with another appropriate level in that style.
Substitute teachers may be used occasionally when regular studio instructors are unavailable. Tuition fees remain the same when a substitute teacher is provided.
Costume fees are due the week of the third week of November. A $55, non-refundable costume deposit is due per class. Costumes will not be ordered until all costume deposits are paid. The remaining costume balance will be due the week of February 1st. Costumes will not be sent home with dancers during costume pick up until all balances are paid in full. Costumes are non-refundable. If for any unforeseen reason a class would be dropped after costumes are ordered, all costume fees remain the responsibility of the account holder.
A recital fee of $50 per family is due the week of March 1st with 4th Quarter tuition. The recital fee is separate from the costume balance and goes toward overall recital expenses.
There will be a $45 fee assessed for all returned checks.
Students should be properly dressed for class. Dancers must follow the dress code and wear appropriate shoes for each class. Continued lack of appropriate attire and shoes may result in a dancer having to sit out of class. Please see the Dress Code reference page for detailed information on each class’s dress code and requirements.
Regular attendance is encouraged to ensure optimal growth of both individual dancers and the class as a whole. Attendance is particularly important after the holiday break while recital choreography is being worked on, not only so each dancer doesn’t get behind, but also because other class members are relying on your dancer for his/her role in the routine. An excessive number of absences for any individual class may result in being sat out from that routine at recital without refund.
Studio 531 reserves the right to require students who arrive 10 minutes or more late to sit out and observe the class. Warm-up is essential for preventing injuries and maximizing class effectiveness.
All classes will start and end on time. Parents are responsible for ensuring that their dancers arrive to class on time and must also be there to pick their children up as soon as class is over. Studio 531 Dance and the Studio staff are not responsible for children left unattended before or after class.
In the case of inclement weather, Studio 531 will cancel class if Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools are not holding classes and/or after school activities. If bad weather arrives during the course of the day and parents are unsure about the status of classes for the evening, please check email communication, Facebook page, and Instagram stories which should be updated by 2:30 pm. Studio 531 will not typically make up classes cancelled due to bad weather unless the same class misses a repeated number of classes, in which case Studio 531 staff will attempt to reschedule the class.
Please see the studio calendar for the correct dates on closures for holiday breaks. Also please stay up to date with your parent portal calendar to find the current schedule for each class. Studio 531 will remain open during all parent/teacher conference breaks, teacher in service days, spring breaks, and other breaks off from school.
Dancers are expected to respect their dance teacher and classmates at all times. Studio 531 Dance and the studio staff reserve the right to excuse from class children who refuse to cooperate. In such a case, the dancer’s parents will be notified and asked to pick up their dancer immediately.
The dance studio will open 5 minutes prior to the first class. Please respect this time.
Studio 531 Dance reserves the right to make changes to the policies and procedures at any time. Notice of changes will be given on the Studio 531 website and in quarterly newsletters.
